Tavani Soccer Camps continue to grow as they enter fourth year
The Weekly - June 10, 2006

Duluth, GA (June 12, 2006) - With three successful years of camps under their belt, Tavani Soccer, Inc. enters their fourth year of popular soccer camps in the Gwinnett area with a full head of steam. Originally developed as an outlet for Duluth High School varsityboys soccer coach Gregg Tavani to share his passion with young players, it has expanded into a popular soccer camp with three weeks of camps this summer.

With the World Cup taking place this summer, soccer will be center stage and Tavani cannot wait. "It's going to be a great summer for soccer lover's everywhere. Campers can play in the morning and watch 2-3 games a day after camp." Tavani hopes the World Cup willfurther inspire Americans to take interest in "the beautiful game". Tavani says he's doing his part to develop future soccer players and fans.

Since its first summer in 2003 the camp has hosted over 650 campers at Bunten Road Park in Duluth. Camp Director Gregg Tavani is viewed as one of the best youth coaches in Atlanta. Coach Tavani was awarded The Georgia Youth Soccer Association (GYSA) Coach of the Year award in 2003, and also holds the United States Soccer Federation National A Coaching License, the highest license a coach can attain in the U.S.

Just as popular as the camps are the colorful Tavani Soccer logo shirts that each camper receives. The shirts are designed after famous national team uniforms throughout the soccer world. The shirts have frequently been spotted throughout the metro Atlanta area.

Tavani's Duluth High squad is coming off one its best seasons in school history. With little expectations to start the season, the Wildcats won a string of regular season games against state powers including #1-ranked Chattahoochee. After earning a playoff birth in one of the toughest regions in the state, the Wildcats continued their winning ways in the playoffs by beating defending state champs Parkview, along with Marietta and Newnan to earn their 3rd trip to the AAAAA semifinals in Tavani's five years as Duluth coach.

Tavani is a dynamic and motivational coach, who inspires his players to develop a level of passion and intensity for the "best sport in the world". He relates to the players with a hands-on coaching style that includes both playing and demonstrating. Coach Tavani hascrafted his coaching style from his 8 years at the high school and club levels, where he currently coaches three youth academy teams at Atlanta Fire United Soccer Association in Gwinnett, GA.

The Tavani camps are a family run operation founded as a means to share their passion of the game with young soccer players. Coach Tavani directs the camp with the assistance of his father, Filiberto, and brother, Michael. Tavani's coaching colleagues and former Duluth and current college players also help coach at the camps. The camp's goals are to increase young players' skills and, most importantly, make it fun, even though the camp is "intense," a Tavani trademark. Coach Tavani maintains, "It's just a different avenue to spread my knowledge of the game. I have lots of ideas, and I enjoy working with kids and developing their games." The coach aims to "help players develop their tactical, technical and mental skills to higher levels, and expose them to the demands of competitive soccer and to work within a team concept."

Michael Tavani said the family atmosphere is what separates this camp from other soccer camps.

The camp is suitable for all skill levels, boys and girls ages 7 to 15, from beginners to select players.
